docWORKS[e] technology is a self-installing digitization software:
- no cryptic kernel commands,
- no switching around files,
- no meddling with systems folders.
Install onto any standard computer - or laptop. Just slide in the CD and follow the instructions. Import, convert and export scanned newspapers, books and magazines. Upload to the web and hey presto, accessible to whomever you want.

Hardware Requirements for docWORKS[e]

Minimum Pentium 4 or similar; 3 GHz CPU, 4 GB RAM, Windows XP on 32 or

64 bit CPU or Windows Vista (Business, Enterprise or Ultimative edition) on 32 or 64 bit CPU. For installation 2 GB free local disc space is required. For

processing data a minimum of 300 GB local disc space is recommended (based on a monthly production of 20.000 pages à 5 MB in original).

Alternatively a stable network share with 1 GBit/s connection can be used. In each case disc space must be on one single volume. USB-HDD must not be used.

21“ screen recommended for newspaper digitization. Minimum screen resolution is 1280 x 1024 pixels. (If using wide screen monitors: The size of resolution pixels in height must not be smaller than 3/4 of the width)

Hardware Requirements for docWORKS[e] ScanClient

Can be installed on same machine as docWORKS[e] but cannot be run at the same time.

Maximum 3 different Scanner types can be configured.

Input Limitations
docWORKS[e] can process the following file formats as input:

tiff (uncompressed, group3, group4, packbits, lzw), jpg, jp2000, bmp, gif, PDF
Page sizes:
-
Image resolution: The resolution of images must be in range of 200 to 600 dpi.

Only symmetric resolution (x=y) is supported.
-
The correct value of image resolution must be part of image metadata.
-
Metric image size: The overall size of images is limited by A1 size.

Image data size: The maximum size of images that can be processed with docWORKS[e] is 120 MB (uncompressed).

The capacity of docWORKS[e] is limited to approx. 10 million of characters per

docWORKS[e] document (Pool document).

This leads to a maximum size of 100 pages per typical newspaper or up to 2000

pages for a typical book per docWORKS[e] document (Pool document).
